Laser cutting machines excel in cutting stainless steel. High-power YAG laser cutting systems can cut stainless steel up to a maximum thickness of 4mm, while low-power YAG laser cutting systems can also achieve this thickness. In addition, high power fibre laser cutting systems can cut stainless steel up to a maximum thickness of 8 mm. when cutting with oxygen, oxidation can occur on the end face, but with nitrogen, oxidation-free and burr-free edges can be obtained. If the plate surface is coated with an oil film, better perforation results can be achieved without compromising the quality of the process.
